The North-west European section generally covers the U.K. and Ireland, plus the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden), with some members from Belgium and The Netherlands. All of our business and meetings are conducted in English. Benefits of membership include section newsletters throughout the year, the annual Winter meeting, which is only open to members, eligibility for students to apply for meeting travel grants from the section, and discounts on the meetings of the international IUSSI, all for a nominal fee.
Fiollowing discussions at the 2023 winter meeting, we have now implemented an on-line membership system, handled by "joinit", which is the simplest way to join or re-join the section. Please click on the button below.
Other possible methods of payment are given below, but we strongly encourage you to use the joinit link., as that will also allow you to access your membership details directly
1) Bank transfer. Account name: Northwest European section IUSSI; account number: 16100247; sort code: 602462; IBAN: GB86NWBK60246216100247; SWIFT/BIC: NWBKGB2L; bank address: Natwest, Main Street, Heslington, York, YO10 5ZB

Be sure to include your name as a reference when joining or renewing by bank transfer or paypal. If you have renewed your membership, please let the section treasurer (see e-mail below) know how and when you have paid, and also let him know if you would like a receipt for your records. You do not need to complete the membership form (downloadable below) unless your details have changed. If you do not wish to renew then please also let the treasurer know to avoid receiving further reminders.
Members with a UK bank account are strongly encouraged to pay by bank transfer, although cheques will still be accepted. Members without a UK bank account should pay by bank transfer or PayPal, ensuring that their payment also covers bank or PayPal fees. All members should include their name as description/reference in their payment.
It is a huge help if PIs of research groups (or their designates) organize memberships for their group if possible, as it will maximize the efficiency of renewals and the joining of any potential new members.
The membership form for 2023 is available for download here as a Microsoft word document or a PDF file
If you have any questions about membership, please contact the section treasurer, Christoph Grüter at c.grueter (at) bristol.ac.uk
