Post-congress tour to Danish National Parks and other protected areas in Jutland

Organizer: Mogens Gissel Nielsen e-mail

The excursion will bring you to National Parks and other interesting insect localities in Jutland. The route of the trip is chosen so it will give a good impression of the diversity of landscape types in a country where more than 65 % of the area is cultivated farmland. There will be good possibilities for collecting insects - particularly ants – on all localities, also in the National Parks.

We will stay the first three nights at the field station Molslaboratoriet  in the Mols Bjerge National Park and from there we will make excursions into the Park and to the Silkeborg region. Afterwards we will visit Tofte Skov in Vildmosen, which is the largest raised moor in Denmark. That area will be part of one of the next National Parks in Denmark. We will continue to the town Hanstholm on the north western corner of Jutland in Thy National Park , where we will stay at the small estate Skibstedgaard the last two nights. The National Park has the largest untouched areas in Denmark, and the area is strongly influenced by the ocean and the wind. The last day will take us back to Copenhagen, making a few stops in the central part of Jutland on the way.
